LETTERS TO SANTA
THE CHARITY
Holidays are around the corner and it’s a great time to help a child in need. The Young Lawyers Section of the WCLA is working with Direct Effect Charities of Chicago, a 501c3 organization, to fulfill the wishes of disadvantaged children in Chicago schools that have a 95% poverty rate or higher.
HOW IT WORKS
Thousands of children in this program write letters to Santa asking for toys or items they need ranging from drawing books to a winter coat. These children are anywhere from 3-20 years in age and from Pre-K through vocational high schools. We will distribute letters children have written to Santa to those wishing to participate in the program as soon as we receive them in the next few weeks. For those participating, we will inform you regarding the date by which you need to drop off the wrapped or unwrapped gift at a specified location in the loop. We’ll take care of the rest!
WHAT WE NEED RIGHT NOW
Your pledge or your firm’s pledge to answer a specific amount of Letters to Santa. We have approximately 430 letters to fill (last year we filled 400), so please let us know if you can help with this effort as soon as possible.
WCLA is proud to continue its support of Direct Effect Charities and the Letters to Santa Program. It is a very fun and rewarding way to get in the Holiday Spirit. If you have any questions, please contact Nina Mariano (nm@roddylaw.com).
